ALEX McCLEAN
Director of Nutrition
Academic Credentials:
Why did I choose nutrition?
For me, nutrition was an easy field to get into. I have both Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac disease, so I have been very conscious of what I am putting into my body from a young age. Originally, my goal was to pursue a career in Physical Therapy or Athletic Training, however, but over the years I realized the importance of nutrition. Exercise is essential to our well-being, yet it is only one side of the coin. Unfortunately, nutrition is often neglected despite being one of the most prominent factors in what determines our short term and long-term health. In general, majority of people tend to associate nutrition as just weight loss or a tool to look better, however my top priority is always to improve health and overall quality of life.
Nutrition is not black and white subject, it’s grey, meaning everyone has different problems, different goals, and different strengths/weaknesses. There is no cookie cutter program that works for everyone, that is why I use a collaborative approach to customize a program for each individual. My job is to find a plan that is sustainable, enjoyable, and even flexible to ensure my clients are healthy, satisfied, and consistently hitting their goals. Nutrition does not have to be an intimidating subject, let’s have some fun with it.
All I ask is that you take the time to think about the way you feel on a daily basis, and ask yourself:
Am I doing everything I can?
