Supervises: 2 Trainers (with responsibility for their schedule, performance, client success)

Role Summary
The Head Trainer is a dual‐role: you will actively train clients (1:1 and small groups) while overseeing the training program’s success—ensuring our two trainers deliver excellence, our clients stay engaged, and our retention and business metrics move in the right direction. You’re both practitioner and leader.

Role Summary

You’re both practitioner and leader.
In this role you will:
- Design, deliver and oversee training programs for your own clients as well as support the team’s clients.
- Lead, mentor, schedule and manage the two trainers: assign clients, review performance, provide coaching, ensure consistency and quality of service.
- Drive client success and retention—monitor metrics (attendance, program adherence, renewals), propose and execute client-engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate with owner/GM on training program strategy, growth initiatives, marketing synergy (trainer-led events, referrals, client testimonials).
- Stay on the floor as a model of excellence—lead by example, maintain high energy, uphold Simply Fit’s culture of accountability, respect and results.
- Ensure safety, proper form, equipment maintenance, compliance with certifications and standards.
- Participate in hiring/training of new trainers as the team grows; assist with performance reviews, development plans.
- Support business development: occasionally assist with lead generation (intro sessions, connection calls), cross-sell training programs, help increase utilization.
- Train a defined client load (1:1 and small group) and deliver measurable progress on strength, mobility, and consistency.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for the training team (client retention, trainer utilization, session conversion, upsell to packages).
- Daily/weekly scheduling of trainers: ensuring coverage, optimal client assignments, preventing over/under booking.
- Mentor and coach trainers: hold regular check-ins, review client feedback, share best practices, correct performance issues.
- Review client program design across the team to ensure consistency in coaching approach, language, and measurement.
Analyze client retention data: identify at-risk clients, propose actionable interventions (e.g., check-in calls, challenge campaigns).
Collaborate with marketing and operations to coordinate workshops, referral campaigns, and training-related promotions. - Maintain trainer certifications (CPR/AED, NASM/ACE or equivalent), organized records, training logs, incident reports.
- Uphold facility standards: equipment, cleaning, client onboarding process, trainer floor presence.
- Actively engage in professional development: attend workshops, bring new training modalities suited for the 40+ demographic, contribute to our “Fitness with Purpose” brand positioning.
- Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) from a recognized organization (e.g., NASM, ACE, NSCA) – required.
- CPR/AED certified.
- Minimum 2-3 years of personal training experience in a gym or studio environment, with a track record of client results and retention.
- Minimum 1-2 years in a supervisory or leading role (mentor, senior trainer, shift lead) is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to design program plans for adults 40+ (strength, mobility, recovery, functional training) is a big plus.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate clients and trainers alike.
- Business acumen: comfortable with metrics (retention, conversion, utilization), willing to engage in leads/upsells.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, schedule effectively, and make data-driven decisions.
- High integrity, accountability, team-first mindset, aligned with the values of Simply Fit.
- Flexible schedule — availability for early mornings, evenings and possibly Saturdays (to support coaching, client needs, team scheduling).
